On my chronic pain & addition medicine rotation: prescribed my first antidepressant yesterday and administered my first buprenorphine injection today

TW: suicide There is an empty corner desk in a resident workroom at GW. Now forever engraved in my mind, that desk is a harrowing reminder of the cost of medical training. In his final words, Dr. William West said that he was simply out of gas, that he had nothing left to give.

I can't believe I'm finally gonna be able to attend AMEC in person for the first time in my life lol. It's crazy, but it's true. We live for 60 years of diversifying the face of medicine. #AMEC #SNMA

Thought for the day 🤔 Adding a medical school lecture on the impact of racism on health does NOT require you to delete a lecture on Biochemistry. Teaching physicians that living in a racist world increases one's risk of stroke, heart attack is NOT "teaching discrimination."
