Had a fantastic time chatting with the faculty members at Baskin Elementary today! It's always inspiring to hear about the amazing work they're doing to support their students. Grateful for the opportunity to connect and learn from such dedicated educators.

I am impressed with the leadership of my students. Today, two presented their ideas for improvement to the Board of Trustees as representatives of the Superintendent Advisory Council. It's incredible to see young voices being heard and making a difference in our school district.

At a lunch banquet this afternoon, our student advisory members shared their committee work and research findings over the course of the school year. They truly are our thought partners and we deeply respect their input. I am immensely proud of their leadership and contributions.

I am so grateful for our Campus Transition Ambassadors and their hard work in helping blend the communities of our campuses impacted by rightsizing. They have been a cornerstone of our successful transition between schools. Thank you for all that you do!

I am pleased with what the Children’s Cabinet has accomplished through thoughtful partnership. This year has shown us the power of collaboration and the impact we can make together. We discussed ways to further strengthen the Cabinet to benefit our children. Making a difference!

At today’s Baskin Elementary Beagle Bash, I witnessed a long line of cereal boxes topple through the hallways like dominoes. Baskin surpassed its 1,000 goal and donated 1,300 cereal boxes to the Food Bank. I will always be touched by the heart of our SAISD familia.

I was inspired by the range of final projects at an ALA presentation, from showcasing real-world math to future careers as lawyers & more. One student wrote a script for a TV comedy show. Another shared passion for guitars. I’m proud of the hard work that went into the projects!

What a joy it was to see YWLA Senior Class President Malena Flores walk the stage at graduation. Malena has been a member and leading voice in the Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council. Like her family, I am proud of Malena as she continues at Duke University in the Fall!

We had a great meeting with our novice principals to hear about their first year on the job! It's always inspiring to see their passion for education and hear about the progress they've made. We're committed to supporting them as they continue to grow and lead their schools.

The District 2 Presidents’ Roundtable met to discuss ways the community can continue to support our schools. It's always inspiring to see the dedication to education in our community. Looking forward to collaborating on initiatives that benefit our students and schools.

Had a productive meeting with the Counselors of Real Estate to discuss how we can make the best use of empty buildings in our community. Excited to hear their recommendations and work together to strengthen our repurposing efforts.

Had a fantastic time meeting our JROTC scholars at the District JROTC summer camp! It's inspiring to see these young leaders in action and I'm excited to see all the great things they'll achieve.

Today we launched our Equity Leadership Summit providing school leaders tools to drive our equity-centered agenda. What better way than to open with the voices of our students! We heard the perspectives of a rising freshman and a rising senior.

Wrapped the first day of Leadership Summit watching "The Right to Read" and a thought-provoking debrief with its star, Kareem Weaver. The ability to read is the new civil rights issue of our generation. Let's continue to advocate for literacy and access to this fundamental right.

Had a fantastic time at the opening of TEA's System of Great Schools where we were honored for our work in transforming our schools! And to top it off, Ek Mariachi de Oro from Edison High School was the main entertainment - they were incredible!

Today we kicked off our first learning session with our new group of Instructional Superintendents. Together, we are calibrating our vision of high quality instruction and strategizing how to support our schools in accelerating student achievement.
