The length of study and content of degrees are two pretty big differences. By that logic, physiotherapists, OTs, nurses, pharmacists, biomedical scientists also all study medicine!

Excellent thread on the continued push for expansion of PAs in Wales by HEIW in the face of genuine concerns raised by the medical profession. It is frankly irresponsible to continue training PAs when there are no posts for them to enter into on graduation

So tonight I am the lead surgeon doing a lap appendix. Another surgical reg is scrubbed to assist and the F2 comes to theatre for experience. Both male. Both have their names entered into the log by the scrub staff. For some reason, my presence is not recorded 🤷‍♀️

‼️UHB UPDATE ‼️ University Hospitals Birmingham are refusing to withdraw the imposed extra-contractual work rates. This leaves us with no other choice but escalation. The BMA will not stay silent as the trust goes behind our backs and breaks national agreements. Further updates to follow.
