There are so, so many horrible things Digital ID could be used for. And there are almost no benefits. I don't understand why anybody wants it.

People seem very confused about “digital ID”. It is not the same thing as carrying ID cards that people have in the EU. It is a wholly different beast. It means you have a number. An identifier. Your ability to do anything can be turned off by the government at any time.
