I love the dawning on someone’s face when they realize what a skilled technical communicator can do. I’m lucky to work with some of the best.

I'm reading these complaints abt having to grade final papers at the end of the semester & I'm over here evaluating student website resource projects & watching videos they made abt multimodality like it's Netflix. This doesnt have to be dreadful. It's all abt the assignments.

A writer who showed up to my meetup today said “a problem that a character can walk away from, is a book a reader can walk away from.” I cannot stop thinking about this.

Scientist goals I've not yet achieved but desperately want to: 1. Burst into a room full of politicians while clutching handfuls of data 2. Take of my glasses slowly and whisper " my god..." 3. Say "These readings are off the charts"

the end of the year has me reflecting on things i take for granted & in that spirit i wanna say shout out to wikipedia sure it's not perfect but where else can you start reading about black bean guacamole & 15min later be directed to reading about the fall of the byzantine empire

Set realistic writer goals for 2019! Some suggestions: • write words you're proud of! • get some sleep for goodness sake • be a convincing human?? instead of a pile of coffee and typos in a trench coat • learn where commas even go • ok haha some of these aren't realistic

Same. I’ve found that narrative-based feedback is much more effective for building relationships, as well as helping students practice and “fail” without shaming or punishment. It builds trust and intrinsic motivation.

Last term, I taught my first grad seminar. My gift to each student was a book (related to their research) published by/about black woman! Several of them have since then messaged me to share the joy experienced through reading the texts. My heart continues to smile.
