I’m sure many on here won’t care as they didn’t feel the number was high enough, but the Senate Republicans just removed the “doc fix” tying payment to inflation. Well, now we go back to a full cut with no inflationary increase. I guess some are happy now 🤷‍♂️. Lots of work to do!

Interesting story by Anna Wilde Mathews and the The Wall Street Journal regarding prior authorization. Insurers plan to create a common standard for submitting electronic requests and that 80% of electronic requests will be answered in real time by 2027

Proud to help lead this effort. Physician pay needs to be fixed and it needs to be done now. The Senate must include inflationary updates and preserve the private practice of medicine newswise.com/articles/massi…

Bob Herman speaking the truth. Glad they are doing this but when will someone (Congress? HHS?) step in and fix the problem so insurers can’t continue to take advantage of the system

A must read if you want to understand what’s happened in the past and future challenges to the physician fee schedule updates. Jeffrey Davis does a great job explaining the recent history of the conversion factor and the various options for the future.

This comes as a surprise to many people because so much of health costs are not out-of-pocket (aside from drugs), and are instead shrouded behind insurance premiums that eat into wages and increase by 5-7% a year.

Just a reminder that the healthcare costs that are hitting most people’s pockets are not from independent physicians. It’s from insurers and healthcare systems buying up physicians who can’t make it in today’s economic environment. Physicians are down 35+% in the last decade as
