A couple of photos I took of tonight's aurora looking from Emu Point. It's the best clear skies we've had for awhile, so I'm happy with the result. #Albany #WesternAustralia #AuroraAustralis #weather #canonphotography #landscape

So glad Australia is getting a good show & it's far from over. Conditions are intensifying! Another stronger & faster #solarstorm hits now. We could see G4 levels if the field stays sustained southward. Look to the skies UK & Europe, as soon as it gets dark. Take long exposures!

This is NOT a Carrington event. This is NOT a "killshot." There is a 0% of that. This does NOT look like May 10 events (imho). There is no way to predict exact auroral visibility at this point, but mid-latitude auroras are possible. We need to see what the CME looks like at L1.

Just sent an email to over 22,000 people summarizing aurora chances and viewability for tomorrow! Time to charge those batteries!

Government is to cancel the ADF's JP9102 Advanced Satellite Communications project. This is a big step backwards for Australia's future in space, and follow's government's decision to cancel the National Space Mission for Earth Observation (NSMEO) last year for 'budget repair'.

The G4 #solarstorm level is legit. In fact, looking at the Hp30 index, which is just like Kp but it averages 30-minute instead of 3-hour intervals, you'll see we entered G5-level territory at 17:30 UTC. This was exactly when The New Zealand National Grid issued a proactive alert!

Unfortunately, I am seeing a lot of these posts, which means there are still a lot of folks out there who do not know the main #aurora show from this ongoing #solarstorm already happened last night-- the storm arrived earlier than expected. As for tonight's chances, they are much
