I once had a manuscript sit with a journal "under review" for more than 12 months. That's why I always peer-review manuscripts within 24 hours. I always like to say, 'peer-review others how you wish to be peer-reviewed yourself' #PhDchat #AcademicTwitter #Research

The heart-wrenching feeling when you release you have lost almost 3 weeks of PhD writing! The pain is real. Just another challenge of being a PhD student.

Finally, after 2 years my #PhD research has been published! Altered #intestinalpermeability may pose a greater health burden than previously thought! Our participants (n=589) had worse subjective well-being compared to the Australian population. #Leakygut pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/34495737/

Lucky to have both my legs! Yesterday I was involved in a boating accident. After falling off, my boat drove over the top of me. I was hit in the arm and leg by the motor, lucky to only receive 8 stitches. If I was another 2cm closer, my thigh would be a mess. - Boat also sunk!

Our research has just been published! Kefir may have potential as a complementary therapy in reducing oral Streptococcus mutans, thereby reducing dental caries risk, and in Helicobacter pylori eradication. Kefir may also be used in dyslipidemia and hypertension treatment.

How powerful is this image!? Here are four ways I assess my patients for digestive function: 1. Clinical history 2. Signs and symptoms 3. Functional tests (SIgA, elastase) 4. Microbiome, especially oral species in the stool
