This post is messed up.

And it will have few repercussions because of the privilege afforded to the two posters as white men.

You have an intern bemoaning being checked on an order followed with an attending doubling down, worsening a bad take and attempting to normalize it.

'The requirement of standardized test scores provides the “fairest admissions policy for disadvantaged applicants.”

Common sense says this isn't true given especially how expensive standardized test prep courses are- disadvantaged applicants usually cannot afford these.

My article for the American Nurse discusses nursing and the diversity innovation paradox, which states that underrepresented groups with the potential to be prolific innovators frequently don’t receive support within their institutions to move forward.

Sharing this again. It is so important. I also want to add my friend TheSeatedNurse. She is a fierce nurse and is one of the first nurses to complete nursing school in a wheelchair. She is a strong advocate for disability justice.

“Race pathologization is the practice of attributing poor health outcomes to an individual race rather than to the sociopolitical factors that influence such outcomes and perpetuating false ideas that health disparities are due to biological differences.”

When a patient speaks up about a 👎 healthcare encounter, they’re “qualified” to do so bc they are an expert in their experience.

If they generalize, take it w/ a grain of salt. But to say their view doesn’t count if they’re not a clinical prof’l? Yikes.

Now, apply widely…

In the face of the continuing war on 'woke', the time has come for us to build our own infrastructure to save our hard-fought civil rights advances, and any prospect we have for a multiracial democracy.

SAME!!! Nursing comes from communities, not hospitals. It was forced into hospitals in the mid-1850s because MDs wanted handmaidens, admins wanted cheap labor. Even then, it took over a century for the majority of nurses to end up working in hospitals. We fought it all the way.
