Is tinnitus a side effect or a disorder? Compare to pain. Pain can be an acute side effect of an injury. Pain can be chronic and yet have limited impact on a persons QOL (they deal with it). Pain can elevate to a disorder when it does disrupt QOL. Pain is psycho-physiological.
