Paramedic3 results out now! No difference in 30 day survival or time to adrenaline administration, but a small statistically significant reduction in rosc and sustained rosc when IO used as primary access #resus24 #erc_resus24

IV vs IO in cardiac arrest: PARAMEDIC 3 (UK EPPiC Warwick ) and IVIO (Denmark) No difference in 30-day survival (both) ROSC? IV better (UK); no change (Denmark) No difference in time to access or adrenaline LONG time (15m Denmark; 24m UK) to drug delivery for both IV/IO

2 RCTs testing IV vs IO vascular access in OHCA patients just published in the NEJM and concomitantly presented at #RESUS24 ERC - European Resuscitation Council ➡️ No difference in 30d survival in both trials ➡️ Higher rate of ROSC with IV access in the #PARAMEDIC3 trial 🇬🇧 nejm.org/doi/full/10.10… 🇩🇰

The PARAMEDIC-3 trial results are out! nejm.org/doi/full/10.10… Thank you to ERC - European Resuscitation Council for the opportunity to present. The trial reflects the generosity of patients that participated and the phenomenal work of UK ambulance services. More plans coming for more presentations.

Another fab day at #resus24 mostly around the future of AI in resuscitation. Who's responsible for errors? Do we need a 5th ethical pillar of "prudence"? Is it inevitable that a certain amount of our work will be taken over? How do we learn to grow with AI? #FoodForThought

Adverse Safety Events occurred in 60% of OHCA incidents affecting Children. The system needs to reflect how uncommon these incidents are and look for ways to support clinicians who respond #RESUS24

Evidence suggests early ECPR (<30-45mins) could significantly improve survival rates in cardiac arrest. But so far it's proving impossible to break the 50 min barrier...could the upcoming TIME trial with ultra low weight kit be the answer? The future will tell #resus24

Possibly unpopular opinion but intubation IS a core ED skill and we should be fighting in the UK to keep this in our teams (along with other critical care skills), especially since the introduction of the ACCS programme #airway #EM #EmergencyMedicine

There is a serious issue with research waste in medicine, much of it coming from churned out, low quality observational studies This is a problem that comes with serious harms Why does it happen, and what can we do about it? 🔗 in next post

PARAMEDIC-3 results came out last week. We are very grateful to ERC - European Resuscitation Council for letting us present our results in Athens and to @nejm for publishing our work. Lots of interesting discussions on twitter over the last week. Here is my take on what it all means. A 🧵
