Pressures of the pandemic motivate a big shift to #agile programming practices: news.google.com/articles/CBMic… Survey finds 84% of dev teams are using agile methods. My 2c: It's not really important how many teams "are using Kanban boards". What matters is how many observe WIP limits.

What is Moonshot thinking & how can I use it in my startup? eu-startups.com/2021/07/what-i… Meow: Think of a moonshot as a complex challenge with many uncertainties that must be brought under empirical process control. In Scrum, each Sprint is a successively more ambitious rocket launch.

A good Daily Scrum is 15 minutes out of a busy day of collaborating with the SM, PO and others, for those developing the Increment to stand aside from the buzz and say: "Where are we now in our progress to the Sprint Goal? Where would we hope to be this time tomorrow?" #agile

It's tempting for those who aren't Developers to attend a Daily Scrum, because jumping in on a 15 minute window is easy. The rest of the time you get to stay in your bubble & it means less change to your day job. Shoehorn collaboration into 15 minutes & you have an undaily Scrum.

#DevOps still 'rarely done well at scale' concludes report after a decade of research: theregister.com/2021/07/28/dev… My 2c: Organizations that go straight to DevOps, hoping for a technical fix that avoids the cultural change agility demands, are bound to be disappointed by the outcomes

Why You Should Refactor — Not Rewrite — Your Code: forbes.com/sites/forbeste… Meow: Continuous refactoring is cheap and helps you stay on top of #TechDebt. Having to undertake an expensive rewrite is just one consequence of failing to do so.

Is Agile the answer for health & life sciences? nearform.com/blog/is-agile-… Quote: "Traditionally viewed as too unstructured for highly-regulated environments, #Agile can keep organisations compliant while driving innovation"

Can Supply Chains Be Both Agile & Lean? sccgltd.com/featured-artic… My 2c: They often have to be. Agility addresses uncertainty: Sprint Goals are achievable mitigation targets. Yet risk exposure is itself unpredictable. A lean-agile team manages risk to both feature delivery and flow

Leveraging the #Agile Manifesto for More #Sustainability: infoq.com/articles/agile… My 2c: Think of sustainability as a quality criterion -- something required for product increments to be "Done" & fully usable. Empower developers so they're in a position to commit to & achieve it.

It’s time for IT departments to speak a new language: techradar.com/news/its-time-… My 2c: #Agile transformation is largely cultural...and most of that hinges on inculcating the soft skills that organizations will need for deep and pervasive enterprise change.

Labour mocked for asking staff to use ‘agile ceremonies’ in plan to axe 90 jobs: independent.co.uk/news/uk/politi… My 2c: Getting it right, and holding Scrum *events*, may improve credibility. Quote: “I mean, what the **** are ‘agile ceremonies’? Has a certain The Wicker Man energy to it?”

Afghanistan is every big lumbering outsourced project I've ever known. The real threat comes not from external forces, but from assumptions made and the organization's own gravity. Every time, management hubris is followed by catastrophe on a camel.

Ironic how Jeff Bezos, who brought us the enabling constraint of the "2 Pizza Team", fails to recognize the value of timeboxing by wanting to live forever.

How much documentation is enough? In ancient times, a banner had to be simple enough to be read by a man astride a galloping horse, and so let that principle guide you. #agile
