UPDATE: Nearly all UPS drivers in southern and northern CA have been informed by the Teamsters that they can refuse to deliver packages to the U of California during the strike. Teamsters confirmed. This will likely to have some impact on the U.C. system washingtonpost.com/business/2022/…

Some may wonder why, on the eve of the strike, UC did not move another offer to see whether we’d blink at the last second, a one-time last-best-final offer, which, they might have warned, we’d never see again if we go through with the strike.

A resounding point made during our Student Researchers United-UAW strike around UCI Charlie Dunlop School of Biological Sciences: can we *in good faith* encourage that our undergraduates mentees from marginalized & historically excluded communities pursue academic research and graduate school when the system ACTIVELY pushes them out?
