It is critical for administrators to support their teachers if issues arise with students or parents. If you don't have their back you will never have their trust. Always support publicly and if needed critique in private.

The reason I focus so much on leaders encouraging and appreciating staff is that praiseworthy actions are often invisible but mistakes are almost always highly visible. Look for the good and celebrate it.

I didn’t realize that the only reason the education system functions is because of the unpaid labor of educators and that so many teachers pay for and beg for their resources… until I became a teacher.

The reason it is so important to focus on teachers' strengths is because most teachers are highly agreeable and highly conscientious. They already know their weaknesses because that has always been the focus in education, and because teachers are their own worst critics.

Leaders, if you are truly an advocate for students, then you have to be an advocate for teachers. Take care of the ones who take care of the students.

Teachers, your students may not remember everything about your class, but they will remember that you cared, showed grace, made them feel valued, and encouraged them to give/ become their best. They will remember that and you forever.
