I had to delete so many comments from Black men on my posts regarding Ashlee Jenae. The hate and vitriol says more about our community and the way Black men and women view each other than anything.

The shaming is so bad that some of you even tried to link cervical cancer and ovarian cancer to sexual behaviour and promiscuity until we corrected you. We are regressing so bad, that even cancer patients can’t escape your shaming.

Calling out the alarming rates of femicide is not related to these trivial ass so called “gender wars” that folks be crying about. Femicide is a global issue that impacts women & little girls. More people should be speaking out.

The thing about patriarchal violence is that it wasn’t me or you today, because it was someone else. We’re not “safe” because we’re smarter or “made better choices” or #hate men more. We’re often just…lucky.

it’s not just “hoodlums”. These women were successful, upper-classed and had shelves lined with accolades. They were privileged. Patriarchal violence is not just a poor woman’s problem.

& before it rises to these levels, remember that a man who badmouths and mistreats other women while being nice to you will turn on you too. A man who makes excuses for celebrity and politician abusers is a glaring red flag. Ignore this and regret it

Black women are 5x more likely to experience domestic violence. Black women are 33%x more likely to die due to domestic/family violence, more than 50% of black women that are murdered is at the hands of an intimate partner, 90% of murdered black women knew their killer.

Every time I scroll I see a new article about a femicide. It’s heartbreaking and disgusting and some of y’all are defending murderers. I’m astounded.
