Yesterday Department of Health and Social Care celebrated the release of new international standards by STANDING Together to ensure that AI health technologies are developed using diverse, inclusive, representative & transparent datasets: datadiversity.org/recommendations

The Standing Together project represents a partnership between over 30 academic, regulatory, policy, industry & charitable organisations and individuals from across 58 countries, & was funded by The Health Foundation & the AI Lab Transforming health and care

This comes at an important time, when many leaders are concerned with the risks of AI. The UK government convenes tech leaders tomorrow to discuss frontier AI safety, President Biden issued an executive order yesterday regarding trustworthy AI & the EU AI Act will soon be agreed.

The future of AI-enabled healthcare must be inclusive & equitable. The international, consensus-based recommendations that STANDING Together has produced offer a practical framework through which to highlight & mitigate potential harms caused by bias in data & algorithms.

Healthcare professionals can harness artificial intelligence safely by following a new set of patient and industry-agreed standards.
