Today, the UK kicked off the first day of the 8th Digital Nations Ministerial Summit. On the first day, senior officials from Digital Nations countries explored challenges and opportunities of personalisation in digital government.

Later on in the afternoon, Working Group chairs outlined the outcomes and lessons from the Working Group's work in 2021. These groups looked at work on AI, data, sustainable government IT and digital identity.

This afternoon, a Steering Committee of the Digital Nations was held to discuss the next steps on phase two projects and the future direction that the Working Groups will head in.

On day two of the Digital Nations Summit, the day kicked off with several thematic sessions held in parallel. These included sharing approaches to participatory policymaking and experiences in seeking to understand and shape public attitudes towards government use of data...

...and data-driven digital technologies, designing services around life events and the challenges and opportunities of different methods, and moving towards circular ICT procurement.

After a break, several other thematic sessions considered countries' experiences of the benefits and challenges of working with the private sector to improve the accessibility of digital services, exploring a range of tools, strategies, and corporate structures that enable more..

...effective and responsible data and AI use in the public sector, and sharing lessons learned from digital identity strategies, approaches and best practices.

On Day 2, discussions included the role of assurance in driving trustworthy adoption of AI, actions needed from governments to build an AI assurance ecosystem internationally, and the importance of data to empower policy-making and sustainable procurement decisions.

On the last day of the Summit, Ministers and leaders met under the chairmanship of Chris Philp MP to discuss the digital government agenda in line with the theme of ‘Digital Government in Open Societies: Sustainable, Inclusive, and Values-driven Innovation’.

We look forward to the upcoming programme of work following the Summit, and we welcome the Republic of Korea as the next host of the Digital Nations in 2022.
