Is there an accepted etymology of the Guan- (apparently meaining "person") in "Guanche"? It looks neatly explainable as related to Berber wa n "person of"

Chleuh comes from Ar. شلوح [ʃluħ], but the 'eu' reflects a vowel [ø]. This is because in Tachelhit, [ø] is an allophone of /u/, which is a pretty distinctive feature of Tachelhit compared to the rest of North Africa [ʏ] is also a possible allophone of /u/, and also unique in NA!
