Many years ago, “you’re welcome” became “no problem”. In 2023, “no problem” became “of course”. Progress.

Always stops me when someone distinguishes between a job candidate’s “soft” vs. their “hard” skills, implicitly belittling emotional skills as being soft, when they’re anything but. Better to call them “emotional” and “technical” skills, to reject “vs.” and to insist on both/and.

Union Square Cafe opened 38 years ago today. Few of us had any idea what we were doing, except we hoped our guests would leave the restaurant feeling better than when they’d arrived. Beyond grateful for 1000’s of team members and guests who’ve been enjoying that dance for years.
