NAFDAC has conducted a screening operation at the popular Idumota drug market in Lagos as part of its nationwide efforts to tackle the distribution of counterfeit medicines.

In a startling discovery, NAFDAC uncovered prohibited drugs hidden inside PLUMBING MATERIALS SHOPS at the Onitsha Bridgehead Drug Market. Officials seized two trailer loads of unregistered narcotics, banned tramadol, and counterfeit drugs concealed within these shops.

Today, the DG at NAFDAC Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, visited the agency's Enforcement Office in Apapa, Lagos, to inspect illicit pharmaceuticals confiscated from the Idumota Open Drug Market. The NAFDAC warehouse was filled, with some seized drugs even stored in the Director’s office.

Addressing journalists after the tour, Prof. Adeyeye emphasised, —We are not disturbing trade; we are protecting lives. What NAFDAC is doing is exactly what it is mandated to do. There is no politics in this operation!
