After years of research, I am handing in my PhD thesis for examination. Its been a journey in which I have grown. It’s not over yet, and it does not matter if I pass or fail, as I have built something that will hopefully advance the profession of digital forensics worldwide.

The simple reality is that as cool as DF/IR sounds, it is honestly not for anyone. There are consequences from the work we do. I once had a digital forensics university student complain because I swore in class, to which my response was, of this offends, then DFIR is not for you

I am really excited to have been a co-author of two chapters of the 2nd Edition of the textbook, Forensic Investigation: Legislative Principles and Investigative Practice. I hope that this textbook will serve as a valuable reference for investigators.

Last week was a humbling experience as I was inducted into the inaugural ITWeb Cybersecurity Hall of Fame in South Africa by my peers. It is a privilege to share this with nine other remarkable individuals, many I consider friends. Thank you for the honour.

This is a brilliant post and really gets to the heart of something I have been saying for a while DF/IR is not an entry level discipline. It is a specialisation with real consequences. What we do impacts lives.

I wish I could shake some people awake in South Africa to realise that vulnerability scans done against your systems are not pen tests, and people that are doing this are ripping you off.

Thanks ITWeb for a really fun interview. I got to geek out talking about AI in digital forensics, talk about space cybersecurity, and the challenges of doing digital forensics in ...... space 😲 . youtu.be/F74C1eDoLu4?si…
