Preventing falls is a good thing. A snippet in the The BMJ here on a study from Age_and_Ageing. We have a “Steady Steps” programme in Edinburgh from The City of Edinburgh Council with some similarities to this one. Interesting to note the biggest reduction was in the worst falls.

Longer hospital stays and fewer admissions | The Health Foundation health.org.uk/publications/l… 12% fewer hospital admissions in 2022….does a 36 hour stay in ED count as an admission?

Fascinating talk by Sir Michael Marmot The BMA #ARM2023 showing how the UK was devastated by Tory led austerity from 2010 - political ideology that led to a lowering of life expectancy & worsening health for the poorest. Shame on Conservatives and Liberal Democrats for making that happen

Rare to see op eds arguing that actually the NHS needs more/better managers as well as more drs/nurses etc as (((Dan Hodges))) does here - ‘fewer penpushers!’ is popular but a cheap shot really mol.im/a/12278377

We join with Age UK in calling for government investment in joined-up care for older people, enabling them to stay well for longer at home and reducing their reliance on crisis health care in hospitals bgs.org.uk/policy-and-med…

The Conservatives have gone from doing virtually nothing to doing nothing virtually. Back in the real world, waiting lists are at their highest ever levels and rising, patients struggle to see over-stretched GPs, and the NHS is suffering the worst strikes in its history.

The headline you didn’t see yesterday Instead it’s busy A&E overwhelmed with patients unable to get GP appts In reality hospital A&E is seeing no more than 2019, hospital OPD only 90% activity & hospitals barely managing the 7m waiting for treatments, 1.5m for investigations 🧵

Describing public sector workers as "paid by the taxpayer" is so 🤮🤮 We are taxpayers too. We are paid by the government, not by you. Working for the NHS doesn't mean you own us or have any more right to talk down to us than we do you.
