Notion uses SQLite compiled to WASM in browsers. This comment on HN provided a likely explanation behind the move. tl;dr: - LocalStorage: 10MB limit, lost writes - IndexedDB: Performance issues, reliability bugs hard to debug

M4 Mac Mini AI Cluster Uses EXO Labs with Thunderbolt 5 interconnect (80Gbps) to run LLMs distributed across 4 M4 Pro Mac Minis. The cluster is small (iPhone for reference). It’s running Nemotron 70B at 8 tok/sec and scales to Llama 405B (benchmarks soon).

if you'd like to build Notion-style apps by compiling SQLite to WASM (like they did) and are evaluating options, I found this RxDB page very helpful for comparisons. LocalStorage vs. IndexedDB vs. Cookies vs. OPFS vs. WASM-SQLite

Why? Because we need ways to attach arbitrary compute to "AI compute" and the legacy of traditional servers and basically web hosting, don't really apply anymore. We have something much closer to a greenfield than we've had in a long time.

Every day on YouTube, people upload 4 million videos and watch 5 billion videos. Handling this staggering traffic requires a vast fleet of servers. So when a new request comes in, where does it go? How do you balance load across so many servers for so many jobs? I love this

2.5 years into the AI craze, and I continue to firmly believe that if your company wasn’t already interesting/succeeding without AI, then doing “whatever plus AI” isn’t going to save you. For the few that seem this way (eg Cursor), I think their moat is a lot weaker than it

Someone built a web-based System Design Simulator, where you drag & drop architecture components and actually simulate traffic, failures, latency, and scaling in real time, System design just got way more interactive.
