Every EU person going thru passport control, having passport looked at and waived thru. Me, with a Spanish passport and living here for 40+ years but being born in Iran, well I need a thorough check, don't I. But I've been taught throughout the years that this is called "random".

I’m at Stanford and I research software engineering productivity. We have data on the performance of >50k engineers from 100s of companies. Inspired by Deedy, our research shows: ~9.5% of software engineers do virtually nothing: Ghost Engineers (0.1x-ers)

I don’t understand “just ship bro” culture. Maybe it was good advice 20 years ago. Nowadays, there’s so much crappy software in the world already. If you want your software to actually have economic value, doesn’t it need to be better than the software that came before?

I’m turning 41, but I don’t feel like celebrating. Our generation is running out of time to save the free Internet built for us by our fathers. What was once the promise of the free exchange of information is being turned into the ultimate tool of control. Once-free countries
