Highest prices I've EVER seen on dollar calves, yesterday at the auction here in SW Ontario. Selling on choice, the group of 12 we watched had a range of $350 to $900, and averaged $530!

It sure does (IMO)! The challenge for ethologists is describing it and the affective state(s) experienced by the calf in the cart, and those watching the show. What is it about bedding?!?

Culling decisions: Analyze cattle welfare, enhance the bottom line agproud.com/articles/60249…. Whether beef or dairy, could calling them "market cows" instead of "cull cows" help orient our thinking more toward financial opportunity rather than them being merely a discard?
