The Hard Rock or Metal version of nearly any song will be better than the original!

When Church leaders and apologists address something troubling from Church history by gaslighting members, it's the wrong approach. The ones it matters to most, whose faith might be damaged, are going to find out the truth anyway. Just be honest.

Brigham Young introduced and taught the Adam God doctrine to the Mormons of his day. It never became official Church doctrine. In dealing with that teaching, subsequent leaders denied he ever taught it. That was a mistake. The coverup is always worse than the original act.

Mormon Apostle Bruce R. McConkie thought it was more important to gaslight fellow church members about the Adam God doctrine, claiming it was never taught as understood, than to tell the truth and let the chips fall where they may. eugeneengland.org/wp-content/upl…

Hypothetical: what would you think if we found out, once the remaining William Clayton diaries are all released, that Mormon Prophet Joseph Smith really did order the hit on ex-Governor Boggs? Prophets are imperfect for sure, but would that be a bridge too far?

Joseph Smith gave Sarah Ann Whitney a blessing written in his own hand, conditioned on her adherence to the "everlasting covenant to the end". Who was she married to at that time in her life, to be able to keep this covenant? Joseph Smith.

If God is all-knowing, Adam and Eve were not being tested, they were merely doing with the fruit what God knew they were going to do.

When God told Adam and Eve they would surly die the day they ate the fruit, did they know what death was? Had they witnessed it, to understand what God meant? Help a blind person understand what "blue" looks like.

It would have been fine if the Gospel authors used Old Testament citations merely as allusions. Instead, they went off the rails claiming their OT citations were prophecy.

If the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints want to create a "selections" version of the Book of Mormon for people with sensibilities like mine, it can take out the part where Jesus slaughters a bunch of children just before before visiting the Americas.

With the idea of prophetic fallibility even for doctrine gaining traction, are Mormons finally willing to admit that Brigham Young indeed taught the Adam God doctrine just as history tells us, and was simply wrong, just as he was wrong about the Curse of Cain and Blood Atonement?

Having said that, how can we know the Bible is from God in the first place? If that can't be established, there's no reason to adhere to everything in it. You know, like stoning women who don't bleed on heir wedding night... 2f

Brigham Young and other Mormon leaders believed and taught false things about Black people, which the Church now acknowledges. I wonder why God didn't send them a Prophet to clear up these falsehoods...

My experience has been that members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Mormons) don't find it ironic that the very prophets allegedly sent to correct the doctrinal errors of the Great Apostasy would introduce doctrinal errors of their own. But I do 😁

I think it's important to mention that Mormon Apostle Orson Pratt pushed back against the heretical "Adam God" doctrine that Brigham Young claimed had been revealed by God. Pratt's example is laudable. Kudos Orson!

Why did Jesus say "no one has ascended into heaven except he that came down from heaven" before He ascended to heaven? The phrase doesn't make sense to have come from Jesus prior to His death. Seems like someone putting words in His mouth.
