A year ago Tesla stock hit a peak of $407 per share. Today it’s at $167. The company has lost 20% of its value just since Musk took over Twitter.

2/ I think everyone agrees Tesla stock price was greatly overvalued. And this decline is in a more general market downturn. But Tesla isn’t like most other tech stocks. A substantial amount of the downturn is tied to Musks being a freak and not being focused on Tesla.

London's shared e-scooter trial tops 2 million journeys in its first 18 months. Currently seeing around ~4500 journeys per day. Just over 4000 e-scooters available. The average journey is around a mile and a half and takes 17 minutes.

The pricing structure and available locations due skew the London schemes quite strongly towards short journeys. I feel they are largely replacing walking trips or bus journeys in central London, rather than providing an alternative to driving in London's more car-dominant areas.

Since the National Trust AGM 2 weeks ago, quite a few people have asked what’s going on with Restore Trust and its campaign. Here’s my answer 🧵 1/8

E-bikes can and will attract people to cycling who did not cycle before. But e-bikes can also extend the cycling life of those who would have stopped cycling because of old age or reduced physical capability. ⚡️🚴‍♀️💪🌱 lifestylebike.shimano.com/uk/stories/shi…

Defra says people should take their disposable vapes to the local household recycling centre, which begs the question has Defra ever met an actual busy human being? businessgreen.com/news/4060717/h…

There is literally no reason not to ban disposable vapes. Reusable vapes are available. The governnment has already banned plastic cutlery, stirrers, ear buds, etc. There is no reason the same logic should not be applied to disposable vapes.

Daniel Quiggin, senior research fellow Chatham House: It’s “utterly bizarre” that Drax, the largest carbon emitter in the country, receives £800m per year in UK gov subsidies for renewable energy. We agree! Let’s invest this money into true #renewableenergy, not #biomass 👇

@lizlaineuk I predict the insulation in that picture is going to fall out and into the eaves space over time. Failing that it'll definitely be wind washed!

Beyond the big ticket items, like grant support, energy pricing, regulations, there is a minutiae of micro-rules which limit heat pump deployment in the UK/England. Mostly these are a result of incumbency and rules being set for gas and combustion. A list: feel free to add.

Hot take: the few remaining ChargePlace Scotland chargers that are free to use tend to be unreliable and abused (e.g. rapid chargers used as long stay parking). The private sector would be mad not to build reliable chargers nearby. Biggest hurdle is lead times on grid connections
