Evans says that the $421,000 the elections board got to implement ranked-choice voting won't be enough. First, RCV will require a bigger ballot (17 inches, up from 14), which costs more. Second, overall mailing and materials costs have gone up.

"Implementing ranked choice voting without a clear understanding of system capacity, resource needs, procedural updates, and community readiness risks voter confusion, administrative errors, and unequal access to the ballot," says Felder's office in an email about the bill.

DC is currently under a COLD ALERT. It’s going to be dangerously cold overnight. As a reminder: we have shelter space for anyone who needs it. Call the Shelter Hotline to request free, accessible transportation to a DC shelter: 202-399-7093.

We’re so proud of the historic gains we made as a district on last year’s DC CAPE assessment, and we’re excited to use these additional $20m in resources to work even harder to keep climbing!

The RFK development will bring a long awaited economic anchor to Ward 7 — and these renderings are a great way to envision that reality! I can’t wait to see what comes next.

I’m appalled by the arrogance of House Republicans, who stood on the floor today and claimed to know how to govern DC better than its locally elected leaders, then voted to overturn a local DC law.   I’ll continue to fight this in the Senate.

I want to walk you through why it’s nearly certain Trump’s Iran War is going to be a massive, deadly, trillion dollar failure. And why you should be furious he’s set us on this path.

Interesting: Councilmember Wendell Felder has introduced a bill that would legalize, regulate, and tax iGaming, "casino-style games such as blackjack, poker, roulette, and slot-style games played on mobile devices or computers." He says it would bring in revenue and add consumer protections.
