Spent all day matching First Class Phonics up with a well-known reading scheme. As a result, I’ve learnt the following - publishers don’t know the difference between words that end in ‘y’ like silly and fly and words that end in the suffix -ly like angrily and happily 😱

Y2 children wrote wonderful stories in English and some children received their own book of The Secret of Black Rock for their excellent writing skills 📚

First validated Phonics are being informed on 10th July! Very interested to see how the validation criteria have been interpreted and who has passed! Think we can all guess who will get through without any difficulty 😂

As one of many companies going for validation in October or March, we really hope schools don’t feel they have to buy one of the nine programmes validated in July! The validation is very rigorous and time consuming which is why all the largest companies were in the first list!

We met the new group of First Class Phonics schools yesterday and we are so excited to be working with them this year! Can’t wait for the first session with Year 2 teachers today
