In his opening remarks as Prime Minister, Michael promised a Britain renewed after a period of instability. Today, the junior coalition partner has made a mockery of the government. Whilst BushBerry123 fights for his political life, it is the community that continues to suffer.

I welcome the reintroduction of the House of Lords Appointment Commission. I believe this will not only raise standards within the realm of appointing peers, but also give greater value and prestige to the chamber as an institution.

Now that Michael's done rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic, at least his government will *look* like they've done something good as it goes down.

The resignation of the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster has demonstrated what we have thought all along. To paraphrase JoshuaRWindsor, this government fails to recognise the importance of collaboration, communication and vision.

This term will be my last as Speaker of the House. But I'm hoping it's not my last as a Member of Parliament. I’m putting my name on the chalkboard and standing as an Independent in February under the new Lothian system. Let’s raise the standard. More news to come.
