A HEARING mother speaking for her deaf daughter and a HEARING man from National Deaf Children's Society β€œspeaking”for us deaf folk. *hyperventilating* And the interpreter should have called out on this. 🧐 BBC News (UK) BBC Strictly ✨ ITV News #deafpeopleareOUTthere

when my family complain about noisy neighbours or storms in the middle of the night.... its a joy to be deaf! πŸ˜‚ But yeah, it's not always my first thought..

Image text says: If you don't caption your event or video, you are excluding 1 in 5 people from watching it. So yeah, don't do that. #CAW2021

β€œIt needs to be the norm β€” not the exception to the rule β€” that access is there and available for everybody. You wouldn’t dream of putting a ramp for wheelchairs only twice in a run. Why can’t you have captions or subtitles the whole way through?” #CAW2021 variety.com/2021/global/ne…

PLEASE add the subtitles to all4 as well - I mean, why go back and caption the previous episodes but not do last week's or this weeks episodes?? Do deaf people not want to watch a complete series?

Becca 🦻🏻 (@deaftextiles) 's Twitter Profile Photo

No subtitles again for Channel 4 Great British Bake Off on @All4. I thought it was supposed to be fixed by now?? Why are we not getting information about what is happening??

Becca 🦻🏻 (@deaftextiles) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Apparently "my 'disability' doesn't stop me from doing anything..." I KNOW that so why does a hearie need to tell me that, can't they see that they are being patronising??? 🀬

I want to see a subtitled film at ANY TIME along with my hearing partner and friends. I also want cinemas to stop wasting time on gimmicks like this and to focus on investing in making on demand subtitles a thing. Is that so hard for the cinemas to understand?

"So many programmes don’t have [subtitles] at all, so I can’t watch them". Don't miss @RoseAylingEllis' interview with The Guardian on inspiring other deaf actors and why missing subtitles make her switch off the TV: bit.ly/3a7DR0w #SubtitleIt
