YES, you are not mistaken!! Our lab reports the first radical SAM enzyme that uses OXYGEN as a co-substrate. Amazing work done by my great mentor Hai Nguyen and Yokoyama lab and collaborators.

nice one, Yokoyama lab !
Yokoyama lab Duke Department of Biochemistry Duke University School of Medicine Very exciting Kenichi Yokoyama lab !!! congratulations to you, your team, and your collaborators!!!
Bach Nguyen Yokoyama lab It makes you wonder how many of these interesting reactions are being missed with the heavy use of reagents like dithionite that may be scrubbing co-substrates! Great stuff!
Yokoyama lab Bach Nguyen J. Am. Chem. Soc. We are hoping to submit our own cautionary tale of dithionite use in molybdenum enzymes soon, you will have a preview at #MoTEC2022 !
The total synthesis of darobactin was a tall order and we always wondered how Nature formed that C-O crosslink. Awesome paper Yokoyama lab for revealing some of the darobactin #Biosynthesis!

After two years in the Yokoyama lab, I’m excited to share that my first first-authored JACS paper is now online! In this study, we uncovered a novel nucleophilic mechanism by which a radical SAM enzyme catalyzes crosslinking in the biosynthesis of the antibiotic dynobactins.
Our latest study on a radical SAM catalyzed unusual nucleophilic crosslinking in the dynobactin RiPPs antibiotic biosynthesis is now online. Congratulations, Bach! Bach Nguyen Duke University School of Medicine J. Am. Chem. Soc.
