The stunning Quarterly Essay from Michelline Lee is a good companion read to tonight’s #4corners on what disabled people really hoped to see from #NDIS

How do disability service providers get away with practices we saw on 4 Corners? My report to the Vic govt in 2009 accepted in full recommendations that prone restraint was deadly and regulations were in force. ABC News abc730 ABC The Drum

As my need got one on one support rises my greatest fear is abuse. I’m terribly worried for everyone. The nurse did so good.

About to read the Commissions findings. I did a private session with 1 Commissioner. I hope for change. My hearing was good.

Sorry, former Commissioner Ryan. You don’t get to have an ‘opinion’ about human rights. It’s bad enough that you had a say, as a public servant and former Liberal politician who worked for a department under which thousands of disabled people have died. Stop gagging us.

Read. Helen and Sophie argue that PWD led reforms are necessary & that PWD’s need a ‘nothing without us’ approach. Meaningful. Useful. Helen Dickinson Sophie Yates

I have exceeded PBS safety net so currently all scripts are $0.00. This change to 60 days of medicines on 1 script is really going to save me a lot of $$$ in new calendar year. Prior to exceeding safety net 25% of disability pension income just on medicines. Sucks.

How come ICU patients at Epworth are getting Covid? My friend is going to die now. At what point will this farce change? Chief Health Officer, Victoria What is the Chief Health Officer doing? Playing with her hair? FML. Assholes.

#NDIS @billshortenmp So you want to cap growth at 8% by 2026. You don’t have the guts to reign in fraudulent business activities so instead I bet you deny more Australians with disabilities entry to the scheme instead. Dirty rotten politics.

Six months on, the Israeli military campaign has brought relentless death & destruction to Gaza. Lives shattered. Children dying for lack of food & water. This is incomprehensible & entirely avoidable. Nothing can justify the collective punishment of the Palestinian people.

Cool group home fact If you are raped in care The rapist doesn’t actually get fired straightaway There’s an internal investigation But in the meantime, it’s your NDIS bucks that pay for the rapist to be investigated in the interim Common practice That’s what they’re fighting for.

Hi folks. I’m back sort of! I’ve had a huge medical emergency. Major bypass surgery and an amputation. Life’s changed. But those NDIS changes that @billshortenmp is pushing are in fact horrendous. Also, they want to put PWD over 50 in aged care if facing homelessness. Sue Olney
