Why would you let 2 minority parties control how people get elected and what comes after?

So it’s “socialism” when you give $10,000 to working people to forgive student loans but it’s “economic relief” when you give $1,200,000,000,000 to the super rich to forgive their predatory loans?

The two big takeaways from the student loan announcement: 1. Monthly payments are capped to 5% of discretionary income. 2. No interest accrual with monthly payments, effectively canceling interest so you only pay the principal. This is huge for millions of low income Americans.

Forgiving 20k in student loans for 20 million people, most of whom earn less than 75k, is good policy and good politics. Never heard Republicans complain about the billions in PPP loans that were forgiven for the wealthy who stole that money like pigs at a trough.

Because it’s never a “handout” when it’s handed to YOU. It’s about time the working class got some help. And the provisions limiting interest from accruing are going to have a big impact. #studentloanforgiveness whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/…

This is also how universal basic income works, except the rich dude would pay more in newly higher taxes than the amount of his own check, which is the part many people don't seem to understand about UBI.

Americans need to be able to trust elected officials are working in the public's interest, not in their own self-interests. I'm pushing for policies that crack down on corruption in Washington, including my bill to ban top government officials from trading stocks.
