LED constellation circuit project with grade 6! We used LEDs, copper tape, and pill batteries. The students worked hard and it paid off! #makers #brilliant #STEMeducation

We shouldn’t punish children for being children. If they sit in desks too long, don’t be surprised if they get fidgety/ talkative. Yes, there’s a time & place for quiet, but we need more time & places for them to play, move, socialize & be children That's how they naturally learn

What if we took the time to help students who feel unsuccessful, lack confidence, or defeated find one strength to focus on and develop? That's not just growth mindset, but can be life changing!

If students leave school without: 1) knowing their talents 2) finding their passions 3) a sense of purpose 4) confidence experienced from success 5) willing to take risks or fail because of success/ confidence then we have failed them.

Every superintendent and school board member should read this article. A decade of toughening teacher evaluations and tying it to standardized tests have shown no positive impact on student learning. It has only decreased morale. Stop the madness. edweek.org/teaching-learn…

There is overwhelming research showing homework does little to improve achievement, especially in early years, and can actually have negative effects. Recess however has many positive effects such as improved self regulation of emotions, improved interpersonal skills and focus!

Teachers, want to take something off your plate? Put HW in the trash. Especially for elementary, let students go home, run, play, and enjoy being a child. And read a little after playing. Then they come to school recharged instead of stressed out and you will too!

Effective teachers don't focus so much on rules, but more on relationships, routines, & expectations. If you focus mainly on rules, you will spend most of the year enforcing them. But if you focus on relationships, routines, & expectations, you rarely have to defer back to rules.
