With sustained higher-than-normal flows on the Red River, 2022 has now passed 1997 ("The Flood of the Century") for cumulative flow to this point. We're approaching the equivalent of having filled Winnipeg's famous Pan Am Pool 2 million times - w/ more rain coming today.

Maja and I collected one of our first samples at McKinnon Creek on the eastern boundary of Riding Mountain National Park, Parks Canada for year 2 of our partnership with Health Canada and PHAC PMRA’s national pesticide monitoring pilot program! Such a beautiful site… we didn’t want to leave 😍

The N95s we have stashed in the truck for COVID came in handy for another reason yesterday: wildfire smoke that descended over SK. And then I dropped the mercury field blank in the river (but retrieved it!!!). Just another day in the field 🙃
