One year ago, #NatGeoExplorer Ryan Carney led a team of experts to prove that the feather did belong to Archaeopteryx after all. They were also able to determine that the feather was a type of wing feather and that it was solid matte black.
Based on their findings plus X-ray scans and tens of thousands of photographs, Ryan Carney and his team digitally reconstructed the Archaeopteryx. This is what they think it looked like 150 million years ago! Keep learning: on.natgeo.org/6015JD4Bz
