One year ago, #NatGeoExplorer Ryan Carney led a team of experts to prove that the feather did belong to Archaeopteryx after all. They were also able to determine that the feather was a type of wing feather and that it was solid matte black.

It was such a joy for our team to meet Sebastian, and make his wish to be a scientist in a dinosaur lab come true! His curiosity and enthusiasm reminded us why we got into paleontology in the first place. Happy National Fossil Day! 🦖 instagram.com/p/CjntF0WA9J0/
