The A38 Mobility Lane Users π΄π΄π§βπ¦ΌπΉπΌ blue route looked very blue on our cargo bike map yesterday, it did 2 trips into town & back: a rehearsal in the morning & a concert in the evening. The #SFEEnsembles #YouthProms was brilliant as always. Thanks @SFE_MS for this opportunity, free for musicians.
A sombre & reflective ride through rush hour traffic in response to the death of three cyclists in Birmingham in a month, including a father who was killed last week. They rode in remembrance & to highlight the need for more safe cycling routes. Better Streets for Birmingham Better Streets Harborne & Quinton
A great turn out at today's Better Streets for Birmingham demo in Highgate. I'm getting sick of the regularity we're having to have them though. π’
βWhen a child is killed on our streets we've failed as a city & when nothing changes we must rise as one to call time on a broken systemβ It was profoundly moving to see the parents of Mayar Yahia, together with family friends & supporters demand safer streets Better Streets for Birmingham 1/
Rode to Cannon Hill & back today on A38 Mobility Lane Users π΄π΄π§βπ¦ΌπΉπΌ with family. I fell down the stairs a couple of days ago, my knees are really bruised from it. Walking is still painful, but riding my bike was surprisingly much easier & no pain! Might swap some walking trips to riding this week.
Weβve been to The Barber Institute and Lapworth Museum of Geology on Play Day: had fun with various weaving art activities, including imaginative play with a woven βcastleβ, and playing with fossils and extinct animal bones. All free entry, so even better!
Huge thanks to brave staff at UoB School who are out in high viz on A38 Bristol Road getting children and young people safely across the dual carriageway as the pedestrian lights are not working. Urgent repair needed. Iβve reported on Fix My Street.
6 months ago, 4 year old Mayar was killed in a collision metres from the park where she loved to play. Now her parents want to create a lasting legacy in name, Mayar Yahia Square. Together with Better Streets for Birmingham and the local community, they wanted to show whatβs possible.
