A cold crisp morning among the woodland & 100s of trees🌳on beautiful RoseHill. All these #Trees will be chopped down & replaced by just 80 saplings under development plans! How can anyone believe City of Doncaster Council when they say they’ll protect trees but let this happen? Reforest Britain

'Very black, bountiful of song, they name themselves' (Exeter Riddle 57) This Old English riddle imagines musical notes as birds & I love how much starlings gathered on telephone lines look like musical notes🎼

No love for #trees in Doncaster. Planners say they didn’t make developer count trees they’re chopping down on Rose Hill because counting them’s too difficult! A shocking massive loss of trees & woodland allowed by planners. No wonder Doncaster has lowest tree cover in SouthYorks

Białowieża Primeval Forest has been described as Europe’s Serengeti or Great Barrier Reef. Yet in most circles outside Poland, the forest remains little known. I’d like to help change that, so here are six reasons why the forest is so precious ⬇️🧵

#WorldWetlandsDay celebrating beauty, value & necessity of our planet’s wetlands! We celebrate the interdependence of people and wetlands - albeit a beautiful yet fragile one. We must protect, restore and rewild these richly biodiverse ecosystems that underpin human wellbeing.

The first Adder of this season was spotted basking in the sunshine on Monday. When you next visit on a sunny day, keep your eyes peeled 🐍. 🎥 Nick Burfield

No mention though of RoseHill, also alongside the Racecourse: a wildlife habitat covered in trees & woodland but to be destroyed for development, part of City of Doncaster Council Biodiversity Destruction initiative. The hypocrisy is staggering. The Council should be ashamed #ClimateCrisis

Did you know that Water Voles are essential ecosystem engineers? They are like mini Beavers, who work 24/7, 7 days a week, free of charge, as they increase biodiversity by burrowing. Also by feeding on vegetation, which makes space for wildflowers to grow for pollinators!

The reality of BiodiversityNetGain: on left, City of Doncaster Council “habitat bank” (empty field) which will supposedly deliver 10% BNG to replace (on right) RoseHill wildlife habitat being destroyed for development. This apparently will make Doncaster “greener”. Shocking! CommunityPlanningAlliance 🦇🦎
