This is a significant intervention by former PM Gordon Brown. When in office he issued national apologies for past wrongs - now he calls on Starmer to accept the stateโ€™s role in historic forced adoptions which changed the lives of 250,000 women.Full coverage on ITV News tomorrow

What is so concerning about this is people jumping to the conclusion that black men in a mixed heritage family = danger. I fear for members of my mixed family, & I fear for the racist society we have become.

Not sure what is new about this? When I was community education officer I taught sex education to mixed groups with the local health visitor back in the 90s.

I don't know about you but I've had about enough of mainstream media & politicians legitimising racist anti-asylum protests that terrorise refugees & communities. I had to push back hard, TWICE on BBC yesterday about supposed "legitimate concerns" (link below๐Ÿ‘‡)

When my case was dropped, it was an affirmative case closure - no scope to reopen, even when the CPS admitted it was a mistake. No survivor should be left powerless like that. Thatโ€™s why I am starting the #RightToBeReviewed campaign - this CPS VRR pilot must be made permanent and

Back in the 1970s it was a gang of white men who exploited & raped me. Misogynist culture, VAWG & a justice system that fails most victims are global & universal issues. That's what we need to be talking about & acting to change.

Excellent piece by Julie Bindel informed by good sense and realism. Rates of recidivism amongst sex offenders are incredibly high, treatment programmes rarely work, and the priority should be public protection

Yet another example of the church being more concerned with it's reputation than with victims. I recall conversations with some former NOS members about this back in the 90s. No-one took survivors seriously then.

Not this again! Your reminder that so-called 'False memory syndrome ' was invented by an alleged abuser & has been completely debunked. See publications.essex.ac.uk/esj/article/idโ€ฆ for full info.

We don't know the full circumstances, but the idea that trauma from childhood abuse makes you an unfit mother is dangerous nonsense. Often in my experience the opposite is true, survivors are diligent & responsible parents because they don't want their child to suffer like them.
