Just days after a federal court ordered a pause on mass layoffs at VOA, all VOA staff have been furloughed in response to the government shutdown. This is a sharp departure from past practice, when VOA remained on the air due to our role in foreign relations essential for U.S.

And then today all of us are furloughed.
