Guangzhou, is the largest shark fin trade hub in mainland China. Research conducted by @diegocardenosa tested a total of 2,000 shark fin trimmings from the Guangzhou shark fin market with a successful identification of 86.3% to the species or genus level. (PLEASE SHARE)

Identification of unknown shark fins from Indonesian fish markets revealed a fishery that is heavily exploiting threatened and near threatened species. In total, 80% of the species identified are either considered endangered, vulnerable or near threatened.

Manan has an infectious smile and attitude. I have seen him fishing sharks, I have seen him with tourists, his natural skills in the water and his desire to work hard at whatever his doing is why we love him so much. His main motivation to fish is his sons school fees.

Hammerhead are amongst the top 5 most common species in the shark fin retail Markets in Hong Kong but the legal importation was only 0.4% of the fins coming in 2015.
