At the Environment Agency we own and manage a lot of bridges. As part of our Graduate Engineer Training Scheme we’re out with bridge specialists to give some of our Graduate Engineers an introduction to bridge inspection techniques.
A successful day at Ynys Y Fro reservoirs to see the new spillway works, followed by a meeting of Reservoir Owners hosted by Welsh Water to discuss changes to the reservoir safety regime, works delivery and sharing skills development across our organisations. #ReservoirManagement
Are you a Civil Engineering undergraduate who wants to make a difference? We are recruiting 20 Civil Engineers to join our structured Graduate Training Scheme in Sept 2023. Numerous locations available. ANY questions please comment below. #civilengineering environmentagencyjobs.tal.net/vx/lang-en-GB/…
Great to meet with Scottish Water at Winterhope Reservoir for a statutory inspection and a discussion on reservoir management and delivery of works. And great to get some concrete dam and Scottish Act experience for my own Reservoir Supervising Engineer development.
Another great experience learning from the Dutch at the annual test closure of the Maeslantkering. Another smooth test closure and fantastic to see such a huge moveable structure working well to protect Rotterdam. Thank you to Rijkswaterstaat for the invite.
Excellent tour of the Eastern Scheldt Barrier and Haringvliet Sluices. Built after the 1953 floods, the storm surge barriers are part of the delta works which protect so much of the low-lying parts of the Netherlands. Thanks so much to Hessel Voortman for the tour and information
Great couple of days in Scotland with the Major Reservoir Owners Group. Lots to discuss, not least the plans for Reservoir Safety Reforms in England and Wales. Thanks to SSE - A Better World of Energy for the tour of Pitlochry Hydroelectric Dam.
