That's my supervisor and I can vouch for what an extraordinary researcher she is. Also, I love seeing people's hard work leading them to professorship (the best thing in the world, of course). Inaugural lectures are so great to watch to celebrate their personal victory.

Holding on to Bharatanatyam has been a challenge. I am not the worst victim of its exclusionary politics by any means. In fact it is largely a result of privilege that it is me, my body and my intellect that gets to discuss this practice in a western institution.
