Congratulations to Crafts Council UK & Prof Natascha Radclyffe-Thomas 💋💙 GCU London, who have been nominated for a London Higher award for their Centre-funded collaborative research project exploring the cultural value of craft.

Stellar panel including Neelands Jonothan Kully Thiarai. & brilliantly chaired by our Associate Director Beatriz Garcia problematising the evaluation of cities of culture - who do we mean by “we” & can “measuring things” ever really capture the impact felt by all key stakeholders?
Today, the Centre’s Ben Walmsley, Beatriz Garcia & Anna Kime will be Bradford 2025 “Here today, gone tomorrow – major events and why we do them”, with Beatriz chairing a session bringing together leaders in data, research and evaluation to discuss evaluating major events.
Vital work by Dr Cara Courage on interrelationships between Universities, arts/cultural ecologies and placemaking. Really important findings on power dynamics and warnings of the dangers of ‘co-washing’ in place-based collaboration. Great to feed into this through Centre for Cultural Value
The Centre's Anna Kime and Ben Walmsley have contributed a think piece to this new series from Local Government Association (LGA) considering how we can put people and communities at the heart of cultural policymaking.
