Where's Waldo? đź‘€We love exploring the bosque with friends, just make sure you're within eyesight of your group. It's easy to get lost in the beauty of 3.3. million acres.

With rising rivers from monsoon rains, it's a great time to float down the rĂo. What is your favorite spot in Nuestro Gila for kayaking and inner-tubing?

Between 20 to 35 milion years ago, volcanic activity from at least four mega-calderas began to shape what we now know as the Gila Wilderness. Every cliff face, valley, and hillside you see in the bosque is the result of a centuries-long process to shape the earth.

DYK? Of the 14 species of fish that live in the Gila River basin, four of them - the desert sucker, spike dace, Gila trout, and Apache trout - are found nowhere else in the world? #WildandScenic means giving wildlife a chance to thrive.

Try to stay on trail in the bosque. Not only will you reduce the risk of getting lost, but tall grass can be home to nasty bugs like ticks. Check your pets for critters and always give them a bath when you're home.

The bosque isn't just for feeding our bodies, but for bringing peace to our minds. Our children and their future families deserve a place for their hearts to call home, too. #HispanicHeritageMonth

The Gila River is the heart of the bosque - helping to support the diverse ecology necessary for life to thrive. It's up to us and our leaders to do the right thing and support #WildandScenic protections for one New Mexico's last free-flowing rivers.
