A nurse and med tech were shot and killed today in one of the hospitals I work at. All they did wrong was come to work to help people. The nurse was near retirement. Senseless.

Found this book in a small bookstore in S Carolina that had come from a large personal library from Boston with that name inscribed on the inside cover. Could it have belonged to William E. Ladd, father of pediatric surgery? I like to hope so… #pediatricsurgery #medhistory

The Power of Industry in Medicine is tremendous, and the COST of speaking Truth to Power is real. This is one example of how industry attempts to influence the narrative within medicine. WesternTrauma Prytime Medical Devices, Inc. - is the largest suppliers of REBOA catheter in the U.S. 🧵

I enjoy the CERAB technique for aortoiliac occlusions. I think antegrade and retrograde access is key. Able to preserve a large IMA in this case. Images used with permission #cerab #vascsurg #medtwitter #svstweetchat

Cigna uses an automated system that allows “medical directors” (doctors employed by Cigna Healthcare) to deny a claim in 1.2 seconds without opening the patient’s file. Please read this, share it, and help us (metaphorically) burn these companies to the ground.

Appropriateness of Care: the term refers to doing the right procedure in the right patient at the right time and is a timely #PAD topic jvascsurg.org/article/S0741-…

Excellent and timely article Katie Thomas, @anniewaldman, @andrewfordnews and @ikeswetlizt, thank you. If I were a patient with #PAD, this would scare the hell out of me, and probably should. A few important takeaways from this if you're a patient: -Doctors do get paid for

A time-lapse that illustrates pathologically the concept we see radiographically and surgically so frequently...awesome #VascularEd #vasctwitter

Excellent points. My greatest concern is for the patients who will often be poorly informed by their proceduralist about the pros/cons of all carotid options vascularspecialistonline.com/from-the-edito…
