Jill and I are praying for the families of the five people killed in Colorado Springs, and for those injured in this senseless attack. While no motive in this attack is yet clear, we know that gun violence has a particular impact on LGBTQI+ communities across our nation.

The senseless killing of 5 queer people and the injuring of 18 others is horrific. Its a sobering reminder that being queer is the same as having a target on your back. Only when we all stand together, against systemic homophobia, racism , sexism , do we address these issues.

#ColoradoSprings hits different cause i just spent yesterday meeting 100s of queer high school and university students. How am i supposed to sit here with the knowledge that all these folks are in the same sort of danger, while we ideally do nothing to address homophobia.

Gisele + I are devastated and angry after last night’s hateful attack at an LGBTQIA+ club. Our hearts are with Colorado Springs. When will we *finally* take Common Sense actions to protect our communities from hate + violence?? ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.
