The narrative re: #NursesStrike is about money. The truth for me? I don’t want more money. I want an achievable work load. I want available inpatient beds. I want my patients not to feel suicidal about paying bills. I want better.

Gotta love hardworking people like Ciaran here! 4 jobs! A postman, ambulance driver, train driver and a nurse! Over £300,000 in wages a year over his FOUR TOTALLY REAL JOBS! What a guy!

I am enjoying a lot of anti-NHS tweets this evening… “they make their bed they lie in it, let in the private companies” being amongst them. They realise we’d all earn SIGNIFICANTLY MORE if we privatised right? Like, 400% more. And yet, almost universally, we’re all pro-NHS…

5% pay rise for a band 5 nurse starting salary of £27,055 annually is £1352. Realistically about £65 a month better off. With energy bills being £100s a month more expensive. Will be interesting to see how it plays out but it’s hardly inspiring…

It’s genuinely shit, like beyond bad. The standard of living is abysmal and people are blind to it. Minimum wage is far too low, public transport is shockingly poor and the health care system is in tatters. And people just seem to accept it. When people strike, they’re vilified.
