If you're not radically re-thinking what your company culture should look like, you'll continue to struggle to find the next generation of talent. Disruption and creativity shouldn't start and end with your product. Your company culture needs the same love.

Moving your team from slides to long form writing is not just a process change. It is first and foremost a culture change. A writing culture values comprehension over aesthetics, nuance over certainty, clarity over charisma, deliberation over impulse, and rigor over hierarchy.

People are quitting their jobs right now because they were conditioned to believe work had to feel like shit and now they know better. This is an empowerment shift and it has the power to change everything in employment dynamics for a long time.

Resting is not a waste of time. It's an investment in well-being. Relaxing is not a sign of laziness. It's a source of energy. Breaks are not a distraction. They're a chance to refocus attention. Play is not a frivolous activity. It's a path to connection and creativity.

Leadership isn't a race to make the fastest decisions. It's a responsibility to make the wisest decisions. Time pressure leads to shallow processing. Many of our regrets are choices made in haste. Being quick and decisive is overrated. Being patient and flexible is underrated.

I’ve been managing for ~20 years and starting to believe everything we do as managers ladders up to 3 principles: Autonomy, Accountability, Advocacy. Ineffective leadership lies in over-indexing on 1 or 2 of these. Strong team performance lies in balancing all 3.

The harsh reality is many people in leadership don't want to take personal responsibility. The phrase "surround yourself with people who're smarter than you" often translates to "surround yourself with people who're going to care more than you."
